Insight:
With everyone stuck at home during the Covid-19 lockdown, it was the perfect time to pick up a new skill. But learning didn’t have to be boring. By blending education with entertainment, we kept Singaporeans engaged, inspired, and connected—all from home.
Idea:
Enter "Try This At Home", a six-episode series by the Singapore Tourism Board, where local personalities take on fun, quirky challenges. From Sarah Huang Benjamin’s Instant Noodle Challenge to Mr & Mrs Sabotage’s Homewear Makeover, each episode explores a different world—whether it’s Peranakan-inspired Creations with Raymond & Edmond Wong, sustainability with Tan Zi Xi’s Reduce, Reuse, and Upcycle, or a crash course in Teochew Opera 101with Tan Wei Tian. Vijay Mudaliar wraps it up with The Happy Hour, the perfect WFH wind-down.
Execution:
Filmed entirely from home, "Try This At Home" was Singapore’s first remote shoot during the Circuit Breaker. Each personality took on their challenge from their own space, making the series relatable and authentic. The creative team, also working from home, faced the same constraints, striving to bring each episode to life. The result was a fun, inspiring series that celebrated local culture and proved that learning—and laughter—never have to stop.
