Biography
Weilun Chong, a Penang-born creative, seamlessly blends his diverse passions. By day, he excels as an advertising creative; in his spare time, he pursues photography and painting. Educated in Singapore and a graduate of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Weilun’s career has spanned digital, interactive, publishing, print, and packaging before he discovered his true calling in advertising.
Weilun began his advertising journey as an Art Director at Publicis Singapore, where he honed his skills. He then spent over a decade at TBWA\ Group Singapore, further refining his craft. For the past five years, he has worked as a freelance creative, taking on art lead roles for numerous campaign launches across agencies such as Keko, Section, Ogilvy, LEGO, LePub, and GOVT.
With over 20 years of creative experience, Weilun is passionate about bringing ideas to life, with a strong focus on art direction, design, and storytelling. He embraces change in the dynamic creative landscape, striving to be versatile and adept across various mediums. As an INFJ, Weilun is both introspective and communicative, balancing a quiet demeanour with a deep curiosity.

Professional Experience:
The GOVT Singapore (April 2022 – October 2024, various stints) – Freelance Senior Creative:
- I was engaged as a Freelance Senior Creative leading campaign development and brand storytelling, primarily for OCBC (Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation).
- Led key OCBC campaigns, including Rewards Card, Wealth, Mighty$avers, 90°N Credit Card, OCBC Cycle, OCBC Aquatics, and festive campaigns.
- Contributed to projects for AAMS (Association of Advertising & Marketing Singapore), Sentosa, Peroni, Solar Power Energy Drink, 100Plus, Great Eastern Life (pitch), and FairPrice (pitches).
LePub | Part of Publicis Groupe (May 2024 – July 2024) – Freelance Senior Director:
- I took on a brief yet rewarding freelance engagement as a Freelance Senior Art Director, contributing to and overseeing regional Heineken campaigns.
- Led creative development for Heineken Afterwork, Heineken UEFA Champions League (Thailand) 2024, and Heineken Social Signs.
The LEGO Agency, Singapore (January 2023 - April 2023) – Freelance Senior Art Director:
- I embarked on a creative role as a Freelance Senior Art Director for LEGO, leading concept development and execution across design, social media, PR, events, and digital activations.
- Developed campaigns for key LEGO franchises, including LEGO Hong Kong/Taiwan Summer '23, LEGO DREAMZzz PR/Event Activation, and LEGO Holidays '23.
Ogilvy Singapore ( May 2021 - November 2021) – Freelance Senior Creative (Art):
- I was the main Art-based Creative Lead for Toyota, driving the brand refresh for the Toyota GR (Gazoo Racing) division in Southeast Asia.
- Led overarching creative and art direction, creating a unified brand visual across print, film, and digital platforms.
- Key creative for launch campaigns of Toyota Raize, Toyota Avanza, and Toyota Veloz.
Section Interactive Singapore (October 2020 - January 2021) – Freelance Senior Creative (Art):
- I took on the role of the Art-based Creative Lead for Uniqlo’s first Chinese New Year campaign, spanning film, print, out-of-home, in-store, digital, and social media.
- Led the debut of Uniqlo’s Chinese New Year film, addressing themes relevant to the Covid-19 pandemic.
- Collaborated with senior creatives at Section Interactive to develop compelling key visuals and styling still assets.
- Awarded at Marketing-Interactive MARKies Award 2021
Keko Singapore (July 2020 - October 2020) – Freelance Senior Creative (Art):
- I started my freelance journey as a Lead Creative for Porsche, leading the Porsche Cayenne #SportscarTogether campaign.
- Collaborated with international production companies to create a dynamic film and a suite of print and digital assets.
TBWA \ Group Singapore (2009 - 2020) – Senior Art Director:
- Senior Creative with a decade of experience working on key brands, including Singapore Tourism Board, Uniqlo, Visa, Standard Chartered, and Lexus.
