SENIOR CREATIVE (ART)
Daytime senior creative, part-time photographer, hobbyist watercolour artist and experimental chef at other times. Born in Penang, Malaysia, Weilun Chong was educated in Singapore and graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.
After several short stints in digital, interactive, publishing, print and packaging design, he found his calling in advertising where he began his formative years as an Art Director at Publicis Singapore and later at TBWA\ Group Singapore for more than a decade.
Being a true-blue gemini, he is naturally reserved and introverted, yet inquisitive and communicative at the same time. Amassing 16 years of advertising experience in Singapore, what he brings to the table are his strong art direction, craft, and his love for the creative ideation process. He is extremely passionate about production work as well, because he believes it is the responsibility of every creative to get an idea sold and produced.
With the creative industry changing exponentially, he strives to be a jack of many trades and believes that a great creative can exert his creativity anywhere. His 30-year love for photography and film has led to a natural evolution as a photographer on www.weilunchongphotography.com
Section Interactive Singapore (October 2020 - January 2021) – Freelance Senior Creative (Art):
Brand: Uniqlo (Southeast Asia) – I was engaged as a freelance art-based lead creative for Uniqlo’s first Chinese New Year campaign that comprised of film, print, out-of-home, in-store, digital and social. Working with several senior creatives from Section Interactive, we produced a series of beautifully crafted key visuals and styling stills assets. Uniqlo had its first-of-its kind film with beautiful storytelling that is also topical to the current pandemic situation.
Keko Singapore (July 2020 - October 2020) – Freelance Senior Creative (Art):
Brand: Porsche (Asia Pacific) – I was engaged as a freelance art-based lead creative for Porsche Cayenne ‘ Faces’ Campaign. Working closely with three production companies across borders, we produced a dynamic, yet family-orientated film, as well as a series of print and digital assets that were all shot remotely.
TBWA \ Group Singapore (2009 - 2020) – Senior Art Director:
A stint of 10 excellent years working with many brilliant people where I progressed to a senior creative lead and brand custodian for a several key brands – Singapore Tourism Board, Uniqlo, Visa, Standard Chartered and Lexus – helming integrated campaigns that spanned across mainstream advertising, digital, social and activation. Constantly working and always learning; I was part of the creative leads to spearhead the first all-remote shoot in Singapore, for a Singapore Tourism Board’s content series produced during a strict Covid-19 lockdown.
