Biography
Weilun Chong, a Penang-born creative, seamlessly blends his diverse passions. By day, he excels as an advertising creative; in his spare time, he pursues photography and painting. Educated in Singapore and a graduate of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Weilun’s career has spanned digital, interactive, publishing, print, and packaging before he discovered his true calling in advertising.
Weilun began his advertising journey as an Art Director at Publicis Singapore, where he honed his skills. He then spent over a decade at TBWA\ Group Singapore, refining his craft. For the past five years, he has worked as a freelance creative, taking on art lead roles for numerous campaign launches at various agencies.
With over 20 years of creative experience, Weilun is passionate about bringing ideas to life, with a strong focus on art direction, design, and storytelling. He embraces change in the dynamic creative landscape, striving to be versatile and adept across various mediums. As an INFJ, Weilun is both introspective and communicative, balancing a quiet demeanor with a deep curiosity.

The GOVT Singapore (April 2022 – October 2024, various stints) – Freelance Senior Creative:
As a Senior Creative, I led the development of several campaigns for OCBC (Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation), including OCBC Rewards Card (Titanium), OCBC Simply Spot On Brand, OCBC Wealth, the Year-End Christmas Campaign, the Chinese New Year Campaign, Mighty$avers, 90°N Credit Card, OCBC Cycle, and OCBC Aquatics. In addition to my work with OCBC, I also contributed to projects for brands such as AAMS, Sentosa, Peroni, Solar Power Energy Drink, 100Plus, Great Eastern Life pitch, and FairPrice pitches.
LePub | Part of Publicis Groupe, Singapore (May 2024 – July 2024) – Freelance Senior Art Director
I took on a brief yet rewarding freelance engagement as a Senior Art Director, assisting in and overseeing several regional Heineken campaigns. Notable projects included Heineken Afterwork, Heineken UEFA Champions League (Thailand) 2024, and Heineken Social Signs.
The LEGO Agency, Singapore (January 2023 - April 2023) – Freelance Senior Art Director:
Embarking on a creative role within the LEGO global brand proved to be both enlightening and gratifying. I took on the role of a freelance Senior Art Director, tasked with conceptualising and executing creative projects spanning design, social media, PR, events, and digital activations. My responsibilities included crafting campaigns for various franchises under the LEGO brand, including LEGO Hong Kong / Taiwan Summer '23, LEGO DREAMZzz PR / Event Activation, and LEGO Holidays '23.
Ogilvy Singapore ( May 2021 - November 2021) – Freelance Senior Creative (Art):
I was the primary Art-based Creative Lead for Toyota and Lexus, spearheading the brand refresh for the Toyota GR (Gazoo Racing) division in the Southeast Asia market. Taking charge of the overarching art direction, I crafted a unique brand visual that unified all creative works across print, film, and digital platforms. I also played a pivotal role as one of the key creatives for the launch campaigns for new car models such as the Toyota Raize, Toyota Avanza, and Toyota Veloz.
Section Interactive Singapore (October 2020 - January 2021) – Freelance Senior Creative (Art):
I joined as an Art-based Creative Lead for Uniqlo’s first Chinese New Year campaign, which encompassed various media, such as film, print, out-of-home, in-store, digital, and social platforms. Working with esteemed senior creatives from Section Interactive, we meticulously crafted a collection of captivating key visuals and styling still assets. And we debuted a Chinese New Year film, uniquely tailored to address the pertinent themes surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic.
Keko Singapore (July 2020 - October 2020) – Freelance Senior Creative (Art):
I worked as a freelance Lead Creative for the Porsche brand, spearheading the Porsche Cayenne 'Faces' Campaign. Collaborating with three production companies internationally, we created a vibrant film and a range of print and digital assets, all shot remotely, with a focus on dynamism and family appeal.
TBWA \ Group Singapore (2009 - 2020) – Senior Art Director:
A rewarding decade collaborating with talented individuals, I progressed to the role of Senior Art Director for various key brands including Singapore Tourism Board, Uniqlo, Visa, Standard Chartered, and Lexus. I helmed integrated campaigns across mainstream advertising, digital platforms, social media, and activations, ensuring a cohesive brand presence and impactful engagement.
